This book by Emma Anderson of the University of Ottawa, published in 2007 by Harvard University Press, deals with the early days of "New France" and Catholic missionary work with indigenous peoples. It is the basis of a new Ideas program that I am currently producing for CBC Radio. Originally, this documentary was scheduled to air in June 2020. Of course, Covid-19 has interrupted many things around the world, including this. "Suspended" is the word. A progress report on the development of this fascinating story will appear when we can all safely get back doing interviews and sound gathering, and finally able to work inside a studio once more. Updates will follow. (Revised May 31, 2020)
